Cotter Pin


I think this is possibly the largest cotter pin I've ever seen. Find out tomorrow what it's holding together. :-)

Interesting to learn that Dr. Rudolf Cotter had only invented the device named after him in 1834 and here it was being used on the C&O Canal which began operation in 1831.
