Capital Bikeshare

Have you heard about our Capital Bikeshare program? It's clearly growing in popularity. I regularly see people now commuting to work using Bikeshare's bikes. I think it's one of the more positive results of Metrorail's woes. Even so, it's going to be a long winter for some commuters without Metro.

  1. I will leave this to the younger generation. I prefer to to ride bus or car where it is dry and warm. :)

  5. Good idea, but the bikes look rather heavy, no?

    1. I've not tried one, Iris, but I think you're right. I seem to remember reading where they were deliberately built to tolerate a great deal of abuse.

  6. They are popular for sure. I rather bus or walk but I admire the people who ride bikes in major cities along with the traffic. They just blend in and look like it not a big deal. I imagine you just get use to it.

    1. Hmm, I ride regularly on our city streets, Bill, and one of the things I try not to do is to "blend in". That's why I've taken to riding with lights both night and day, even blinking lights, which personally kind of drive me nuts. But there's no question motorists are able to see you better with them than without them.

  7. It looks like a popular idea RR, not too many bikes left in the rack. As you say it's a great idea for a big part of the year but winter not so much ☺

  8. The same concept is here, though our winters are not suited for bike riding, so they're stored away.
