I'm headed back into Washington, D.C. again today, this time to participate in the Women's March on Washington. People are gathering here from all over the United States and the world, so I do hope to be able to get into the city and to bring back some images. Check out my Twitter feed for more.

In the meantime, I'll share these images of the Philippine Glory-Bower from my visit last week to the U. S. Botanic Garden at 100 Maryland Ave. SW. Just a reminder that this really is a beautiful world and that there is, in fact, a lot of beauty all around us if we will but take the time to see it.

Update: More than a half million people here in D.C. today at the Women's March on Washington! A wall of humanity, mostly women, as far as the eye can see! Astonishing! Pictures to come.

  1. A friend has been knitting pink hats and she will be there handing them out.

    1. Please tell your friend that her knitting couldn't have been more profoundly important. The hats made an extraordinary impression on everyone today in D.C.

  2. The 'glory bower' looks very Australian RR. Good luck at the march tomorrow RR.

  3. A very pretty flower! There was a march here as well.

  4. Looking forward to your march pics! So happy to see the flowers today! ;-))

  5. So lovely to see these flowers, and I like the colour too!

    All the best Jan
