Melchisedech

You don't see too many windows dedicated to Melchisedech (Gen. 14).

  1. Nice of the makers to put the name of the saint under the picture.

  3. Looks great, did you use some sort of filter?

    1. No filter, Iris. I believe what you see is just the natural effect of the sunlight being filtered through the window and alighting on that angled stone.

  4. I had to look up the chapter. I drew a complete blank on his name. Great window!

  5. I googled him and apparently he was the king of Salem and priest of El Elyon ("God most high") mentioned in the 14th chapter of the Book of Genesis. He was a figure of importance in biblical tradition because he was both king and priest, was connected with Jerusalem, and was revered by Abraham, who paid a tithe to him. He doesn't get a lot of press so it's nice that he has his own window!
