Pier

The pier where 123 passengers embarked upon the boat that ferried them out to the Titanic that awaited them at anchor in the Irish Channel.

  1. Looks like it is also hit by an iceberg.

  2. So nice they kept it there, it was a very small pier.

  3. It could do with a bit of TLC I think, but it's amazing that it is still there.

  4. It's things like this that bring history to life. I taught history and it was always a challenge to capture the kids attention but I tried. For example, when we did a section on the Vietnam war, I brought in veterans with mock fire bases, German Shepherds who were descendants of dogs used in the war, nurses who were there in the worst years - the mid-60s. The kids ate up that stuff. Real history is truly exciting, like this pier!
